During the initial MT4 soft launch phase, the maximum notional amount that users may trade up to will be based on the maximum position value limit that is stated on our Specification list.
The max position value displayed on the Specification list is applied to a single side only. This means that users can trade and hold positions on both Long and Short (hedged) up to the maximum amount that is indicated on the table.
Market Orders:
When users try to place market orders that result in the notional value being greater than the max position limit , MT4 will reject the order with the reason Not Enough Money. This is due to the max position limit value in place, rather than the account having insufficient margin.
In this example, the user had tried to place a market order for 600 LUNAUSDT at 88.71. The resulting action will lead to the overall notional amount to be greater than 50,000 USDT. MT4 will reject this order instead of performing a partial fill as the max position value limit for LUNAUSDT is currently set to 50,000 USDT.
Pending Orders:
Users can place pending orders that result in the account’s exposure for the trading pair to be larger than the current maximum position value limit. However, when this pending order is triggered, MT4 will reject the order instead of performing a partial fill.
For example, a user currently holds a Buy position of 10 BTCUSDT at the price of 40,000 USDT. The user will still be able to place a new Buy pending order of 3.0 BTCUSDT at the price of 40,000 USDT. However, once this order is triggered, the order will be rejected immediately as the cap for BTCUSDT is set to 500,000 at the moment.
Hedged Orders:
Users may place hedged orders up to the maximum notional amount that are indicated on our Specification table. Orders would be rejected if they are deemed to have exceeded the max position value limit when triggered.
Example:
User holds Long LUNAUSDT with total notional value at 48,000. He decides to hedge his position by entering a Short LUNAUSDT position. MT4 will allow him to open the Short Position of up to a notional value of USDT 50,000 in this particular scenario.
What happens if the notional value of my Open position exceeds the max notional value limit?
The existing position can be kept open and would not be closed automatically. However, you would not be able to open new positions for that symbol(in the same direction) if the limit has been breached.
